Top Five Most Versatile Colors for a Greenman Suit

Now that St. Patty’s Day is behind us, it’s time to hang up your Greenman suit and break out something a little more colorful. By now we’ve all come to know and love Greenman, but what about his extended family? Greenman suits come in a variety of colors each with their own number of uses—but some are more useful than others.

Of course, when it comes to rooting for your favorite sport’s team or just being weird out in public, any color suit will do. Even though nothing will top the versatility of the original Greenman suit, these five colors are your best bet if you want a suit that you can wear more than once.

White

If you’re a fan of the TV show Community, then you’ve already seen the white body suit in action as the infamous Greendale Human Being. Other than dressing up like this creepy school mascot, there are a number of different uses for a Greenman suit in white. A few pieces of red electrical tape can turn you into a human barber pole or candy cane. The shiny spandex material even makes it passable for a Silver Surfer costume—as long as you have a matching surfboard.

Black

If a ninja bought a Greenman suit, it’d be colored black. It’s the perfect color if you want to dress up as Snake Eyes from G.I. Joe, Catwoman or any other character that skulks around in the shadows. In fact, black is such a neutral color, it can be the basis of almost any costume, from monsters and animals to superheroes and secret agents. As a bonus, black full-body spandex suits can also used by theater puppeteers so as not to be as visible while performing on stage.

Nude

A nude colored Greenman suit gives you the joy of being nude without actually having to bare it all. Not only is it the perfect place to start if you want to dress up like a flasher or Adam and Eve, it’s great for pulling pranks that would normally get you thrown into jail if you weren’t wearing clothes. Try surprising your sweetheart wearing nothing but a nude Greenman suit and watch the romance bloom.

Yellow

If the only thing keeping you from dressing up like a character from The Simpsons is the idea of covering yourself with body paint, then yellow is the suit color for you. With a few simple additions, a yellow suit can become popular characters like Pikachu and C-3PO or something simpler like the sun or a bumblebee.

Blue

It seems like blue-colored people are constantly popping up in pop culture these days. From the Na’vi people of the movie Avatar to the Smurfs of The Smurfs, there’s no limit to the amount of costume ideas you can mine from a blue Greenman suit. It’s perfect if you want to be Dr. Manhattan from Watchmen or Mystique from X-Men, but you don’t want to walk around naked.

The most important aspect for getting more uses out of a Greenman suit is creativity. Exercising your imagination will allow you to have the best looking costumes, funniest pranks and weirdest photobombs in any color suit.

Unexpected Uses for a Greenman Suit

When Charlie first strapped on the Greenman suit in It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, the world became infatuated by the featureless full-body spandex costume. It didn’t take long for the Green man suit to become an actual costume worn at sporting events and Halloween parties all across the country.

However as Charlie is already fully aware, there is more than one use for a good Greenman suit, other than showing support for your favorite team or scaring trick-or-treaters. Here are just a few ideas for those of you looking to get more use out of your outfit.

Creating Other Costumes

With a few simple additions or alterations, a Green man suit can be used as the basis in creating a number of different costumes. For an easy superhero costume, just throw on a cape from an old bed sheet and pin a superhero logo to your chest. The addition of pipe cleaner antennae, fake fur and googly eyes will transform you into a space alien or monster. Attach a felt collar, ping-pong ball eyes and a felt mouth to make a quick Kermit the Frog outfit.

Celebrating Holidays

There’s no reason why Green man costumes have to be restricted to only Halloween—they can add fun and festivity to any holiday. With a few flourishes, such as some tinsel and a star-shaped headpiece, you’ll transform into Treeman—the living embodiment of a Christmas Tree. Green man suits are the best thing to happen to St. Patrick’s Day since someone came up with the phrase “Kiss Me, I’m Irish.”

Pulling Pranks

Your friends may threaten to never speak to you again after you use your Green man suit to scare the living daylights out of them. The costume’s featureless face would give anyone a fright if they weren’t expecting to see it creeping up behind them. The suit allows you to have total anonymity—which can be a terrible thing in the hands of a devious prankster. Just know your limits and don’t do anything that would get you punched in the face or hauled off to jail.

Getting Attention

Try walking down the street in a Greenman suit and see how many people turn to stare at you. One thing’s for sure—it’s hard to ignore somebody who is completely covered in lycra. Standing outside a business or special event while wearing the costume is an easy way to get people to notice whatever it is you are trying to promote. If anything, it’s at least a conversation starter.

Making Movies

Whether you want to become the next Steven Spielburg, or you just want to pepper up your family’s home movies, a Green man suit is a useful costume to have on standby. With chromo key software and a green screen you can create an array of dazzling special effects as any part of your body that is covered by the suit will blend into the background.
